On April 8, 2000, I was the centerpiece of an elaborate chain of events which went by the name of Greg Day. As an early birthday present, my friend Todd planned an entire day where everything was catered to my wants, likes, and dreams. All of the music we listened to throughout the day was either a favorite tune of mine or otherwise significant. Additional events, that would be of no particular interest to anyone, carried on throughout the day until we finally ended up at Phillips Arena for an Atlanta Thrashers hockey game... their final home game of their innaugeral season. What happened in between the second and third period can only be described as one of the most thrilling experiences of my life. As a passenger on the zamboni, I was the center of attention to 15,000 people. I rode on the zamboni as the ice was cleaned, and had 15,000 people waving to me, cheering, and high-fiving me as I entered and exited the ice. My face was displayed on the big screen and they announced my name over the public address system. Todd hit a homerun in birthday present selection as he gave me something I've always wanted... Fame!
Here I am on my way out to the ice.
Ah, the glory of being adorned by all my fans.
I was going to touch up this photo to correct the spelling of my name but I wanted to show you Greg Day, warts and all...
Big-screen Greg!
The ride was a success!
This is me with the guy who made it all possible... my great friend Todd. Thanks to him, there actually was something called Greg Day. Feel free to send him an e-mail and tell him how awesome he was for giving me one of the best presents I've ever received.
